Enrolment on our courses is generally via application form and a compulsory pre-course selection meeting.  A publicity leaflet outlining the venue and dates of the course, plus information on content and selection criteria, is sent to prospective applicants with the application form.

Learners enrolled on a WEA course may have access to Discretionary Learner Support (DLS) which can give assistance with course materials, travel expenses and childcare costs.

A variety of teaching methods are used including presentation, individual, pair and group work, case studies and role-plays.  Learners are encouraged to share their own ideas and experiences of community interpreting and to participate fully in the work of the class.  We offer a programme of work placements to some of our partner organisations for which learners can achieve additional credits at Levels 2 and 3.

Assessment is on-going and learners are expected to keep a portfolio of work to be submitted at the end of the course.  Learners are given regular homework assignments which are assessed by the tutor in informal tutorials.  Additional learning support is available as needed
